About
I'm a Dutch software developer in the Achterhoek. The day-job is Lead Developer at WorkWear4All B.V., where I look after a multi-country Magento 2 storefront group and coach the team's juniors and interns. Almost everything I write on this site comes from that operator-developer seat — someone on the hook for the whole vertical, from the code down to the customer-facing edges.
Outside the day-job there are three ongoing threads. A paper-trading systematic forex project I run as personal research in my own time, with public content about it deliberately stripped of anything strategy-specific. Hourly, a free macOS menu-bar time tracker in SwiftUI, positioned as an experiment on what generative AI does to paywalled SaaS moats. And an agentic-systems project I paused and am about to restart — this time around tooling an LLM can use, rather than orchestrating the LLM itself. Heavier runs get rented on Netcup, Runpod, or Colab.
Posts live on two domains: ninokroesen.com in English, ninokroesen.nl in Dutch. I draft in English and translate, so the two stay in lockstep. Rather than tying the writing to specific projects, I group it by mode of work — keeping running systems alive, research with data-science methods, or shipping and evaluating independent experiments. The first post on the site, Introduction, is the long-form version of everything on this page, and is the better place to go if you want more depth on any of it.
The other reason the site exists, honestly, is for me: writing forces the honest retrospective that is too easy to skip while you are heads-down on the next thing on the list. Most posts here will therefore read as working-out-loud — that is deliberate, not a draft of something better.
